The purpose of this study was to empirically verify
the impact of organizational and environmental characteristics
on the acceptance of crisis management strategies. Also
the study explored how perceptions toward crisis management
influence the organization¡¯s decision-makings related
to crisis management. The crisis management strategies
include crisis preparation strategies, team-related
approaches, media strategies, and the organizational
system. The Web-based survey was conducted with the
300 Korean corporations. The response rate was 37 percent
(111 corporations). The result showed that both organizational
variables and perceptions toward crisis management affected
the intention of accepting crisis management strategies.
The number of employees and revenues have positive effects
on the acceptance of crisis management strategies. However,
perceptions toward crisis management had stronger effects
on the level of acceptance than organizational and environmental
characteristics. Other research implications into the
real world were discussed.
Key words : crisis management strategies, organizational
and environmental characteristics, crisis perceptions
